Mogul Step

In the videos below I have addressed an area of tennis that I believe to be critically important to high performance tennis players, the mogul step. This step is very useful for remaining strong and balanced when pulled away from the middle of the court and still allows you to remain offensive.

In the above video you may hear me use the phrase 'get under the rope', with this statement I am referring to the body position being lower as you perform the step and hit the ball, like you are dropping under a rope that would be shoulder level with you if you were to stand straight up. I also would like to point out the importance of the recovery step after the shot that entails taking 1 cross-over step, and then side shuffling back to position, be sure that you do not take more than one cross-over step. Finally in the video above I used some ankle bands that create extra resistance when performing this drill and also promote proper footwork and increase muscular leg strength, this should be used as a final step in this mogul process and should not be used until the proper 'mogul' technique has been mastered.
